Facts about Chickens and Eggs
The chicken that lays the eggs for the grocery are called “layers.” These birds are very efficient and have continually gotten better over the years due to improvements in nutrition, bird health and genetics. The genetics are improved by breeding birds that are have the best characteristics. This is the same method used for dogs, cats, cattle. All of the improvements have not only resulted in better production but also in a longer life for today’s layers.
